Healing Sounds Workshop in Kaua'i
Healing Sounds is a form of healing which dates back to over 4000 years ago. Sounds have been a natural element of life from the beginning of time. All animals have the use of sound to express, communicate and to defend themselves. In time of stress, sickness, and elation, we often emit various spontaneous sound which helps heal, soothe, and balance us - the laughter of joy, crying sound of sadness, moaning of sickness, and the expression of physical pleasure. Each of the worlds’ religions have practices wherein sound, mantra, chanting, and prayer are expressed on the exhale of one’s breath. Because therapeutic primordial sounds often become buried with the use of modern speech, people have forgotten how to use these primal healing sounds to heal themselves and others. The resonance of each sound in this practice stimulates the internal movement of the organs, while the coordination of physical movement allows for the natural freedom of breathing. Regaining this spontaneous free breath releases us from the conditional restricted habit of breathing, allowing the flow of oxygen to increase. The Chinese system of organs are more than just the physical organs. For example, the Spleen is not only responsible for digestive functions, but also controls and effect the overall muscular system of the body. The 6-healing sounds expands the therapeutic and physical effects of the sounds on the organs, and has developed into an extensive theory of inter-relationship between the organs and sounds. This inter-relationship between the organs and the endocrine, neural, circulatory, musculo-skeletal, and the immune systems are the distinctive characteristic of Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) practice and self-healing.
